The BIOCEV
Board is seeking an accomplished and visionary Scientific Director for the
BIOCEV Center (Biotechnology and Biomedicine Center of the Academy of Sciences
and Charles University, https://www.biocev.eu/en
).
The
successful candidate will demonstrate an outstanding scientific track record,
proven leadership skills, and a clear commitment to fostering interdisciplinary
collaboration in order to advance cutting-edge research and innovation.
About the Role
The
Scientific Director serves as the official representative of BIOCEV to the
public, local authorities, policymakers, and international stakeholders,
drawing upon his or her scientific expertise. He or she oversees the BIOCEV
operational team, supports research and community activities, and reports
directly to the BIOCEV Council, the supreme governing authority of the center.
The Scientific Director does not exercise executive authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent
the BIOCEV Center externally, within the scope of delegated competences.
- Lead and
manage the BIOCEV operational team in accordance with the Partnership
Agreement, the governing documents of the Center, and resolutions adopted by
the BIOCEV Council.
- Foster an
inspiring environment for researchers and community life (e.g., BIOCEV Days,
PhD events, educational and social programmes).
- Oversee and coordinate marketing and public
relations activities, ensuring consistent and aligned communication among all
partners.
- Strengthen collaboration and partnerships across scientific partners
institutes.
- Appoint
research programme leaders in line with proposals approved by the BIOCEV
Council.
- Promote
and safeguard employee well-being.
- Prepare
and submit the annual budget for approval by the BIOCEV Council, and monitor
the effective use of resources.
- Organise and oversee training activities,
including mandatory safety, IT, and cybersecurity training.
- Propose
the composition of the International Scientific Council, submit nominations for
approval by the BIOCEV Council, and convene its meetings.

Position Details
- Term:
Five years, with the possibility of re-appointment.
- Employment: Part-time, 0.5 FTE.

environment.

- Proficiency in English (other languages are an advantage).
